Updated September 26th 2022

MetaQuotes, the software development company behind MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MT5, received a letter from Apple on Friday, September 23, stating that the firm’s trading apps do not comply with the App Store Review Guidelines (source: FinanceMagnates, hereinafter FM).

Whilst existing users who have the apps downloaded can use them normally, the two popular trading apps are no longer found on App Store.

FM’s reports suggest that the apps removal may be connected with the Western sactions on Russian entities and individuals as a result of Russia’s war on Ukraine. However, a MetaQuotes representative dismissed such claim, as per Finance Magnates article.

The representative of Metaquotes, however, noted that the removal of the trading apps from the App Store has caused significant losses to the company and affected the entire industry as well.

NetShop ISP Voted Best Hosting Provider in CEE at CEEG Awards 2022

NetShop ISP is proud to have been voted as the Best Hosting Provider in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) 2022 at CEEG Awards in Budapest.

The winners of the 2022 edition of the Central and Eastern European Gaming Awards have been revealed after a final secret vote by the attending participants of the Central and Eastern European Gaming Conference 2022 on September 16th.

NetShop ISP is proud to have been voted as the Best Hosting Provider in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). Given annually, these awards recognize and reward those companies within the igaming industry that are demonstrating innovation, service quality and overall excellence.

Best Hosting Provider in CEE 2022

The Hosting Provider Award recognizes the continuous improvement and growth of NetShop ISP in terms of its quality of service, reliability, network uptime and infrastructure security.

A milestone for NetShop ISP in 2022 has been the launch of a Secure Private Network (SPN) to facilitate a fast, secure and free tunnel for data transfer throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.

“Our newly launched Secure Private Network was widely accepted by a wide range of igaming customers. Sportsbook feed providers are able to deliver data from their US infrastructure to Europe and Singapore with ultra-low latency. On the other hand, live casino streaming studios based in Europe are streaming compressed, yet high quality multimedia, at minimum cost, to their Asia-based online casino customers,” said Stefano Sordini, CEO at NetShop ISP.

About CEEG Awards

The CEEG Awards 2022 took place on 16 September 2002 at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Budapest, during the 7th edition of CEEGC igaming conference. The CEEG Awards is an award ceremony that aims to reward the hard work of companies (gaming software suppliers, operators, and service providers) that are active in the Central and Eastern European region. The Central and Eastern European (CEE) Gaming Awards are the most important gaming industry awards in the region.

SBC Expert Opinion: Achieve ultra-low latency for online casino and sports betting platforms

Stefano Sordini, CEO of data centre services and server hosting provider NetShop ISP, offers his insight into how igaming platforms can achieve the ultra-low latency that is crucial for an optimal user experience to ultimately grow traffic, and thus increase revenue.

Stefano Sordini, CEO of data centre services and server hosting provider NetShop ISP, offers his insight into how igaming platforms can achieve the ultra-low latency that is crucial for an optimal user experience to ultimately grow traffic, and thus increase revenue.

There is no doubt that latency destroys interactivity, with igaming operators relying on high-end technologies and sophisticated infrastructure to overcome it. With players becoming increasingly less forgiving, online casinos and sportsbook platforms need to meet user expectations in order to be successful – and low latency is the very foundation to achieving this.

Latency, put simply, is the time it takes for data to “travel” from one point on a network to another. For instance, if a live dealer studio in Armenia streams video for an online casino company whose server is hosted in Malta, with players interacting globally, the data will travel from Armenia to Malta and then to the rest of the world.

A long delay between the cards being dealt in Armenia, to when the player sees them and subsequently places their bet, needs to be short enough to not hinder the responsiveness of the experience.

Low latency is absolutely essential

The same is applied for sportsbook platforms. When players are betting on live games, low latency is absolutely essential. When the video streaming is slower than the gameplay or the broadcasting quality is poor, betting integrity is entirely lost. For any live streaming platform handling financial transactions in real time, every second matters, hence player engagement is heavily reliant on ultra-low latency.

Not only is high latency a hindrance to a website’s performance, poor loading times can also diminish all SEO efforts and negatively impact search engine rankings. Therefore these gambling websites will not only struggle to retain users, but also to gain them in the first place. With the importance of low latency established, let’s take a look at how it can be achieved.

Utilising certain software and frameworks, as well as implementing an advanced network infrastructure have become prerequisites for igaming providers. For any live streaming platform, it’s fundamental to adopt these technologies in order to support multiple integrated systems and ensure the high-speed transfer of data to and from the end-users (players).

WebRTC becoming increasingly popular

WebRTC technology in particular, has become increasingly popular for igaming platforms by accommodating fast multimedia transfer from source to destination. Compatible with all mobile devices and supported by all major developers, WebRTC provisions the real-time transfer of data without delay, enhancing engagement and the user experience.

Beyond that, it’s integral for your network infrastructure to be streamlined in order to successfully achieve ultra-low latency. For this to be attainable, your hosting provider needs to offer a number of key resources. A player’s uninterrupted activity is dependent on the servers’ network speed and bandwidth, meaning dedicated network speed and flexible bandwidth both play a key role in the overall user experience. Dedicated network speed guarantees that your server is entitled to a specific speed for downloading and uploading data. Although this may be more expensive than shared network speed, it is critical in order to accommodate the fast transmission of large media types, like video streaming, to players.

Whilst network speed refers to the speed at which data can be sent and received, bandwidth denotes how much data can be sent and received at once, which is equally as important. In essence, you don’t want to be capped once your servers have reached the allocated amount of monthly traffic.

It is common in the igaming sector that a server will utilise low bandwidth during weekdays, and large spikes on weekends. Therefore, it is important that your hosting provider can offer uncapped or unmetered bandwidth to your hosted infrastructure for optimal performance.

CDNs are also commonly implemented by igaming operators in order to reduce network latency. A content delivery network (CDN) utilises a global network of servers in order to streamline the delivery of downloads by caching content in multiple points of presence (PoPs) all around the world, meaning users can access it from the PoP closest to them. A CDN ultimately improves performance, scalability and the overall user experience for a global audience.

IT location choice is make or break

Lastly, your server and infrastructure’s geo-location also greatly contributes to the network latency you could face. For any igaming business, the choice of location of its IT infrastructure can be a make or break decision. However, oftentimes within the igaming sector, regulatory compliance may potentially affect the decision of where to host your infrastructure.

Let’s take our earlier example of an online casino business based in Malta operating a live dealer studio in Armenia. The Malta-based business would be granted an MGA licence and, as per the current regulatory framework at the time of writing this article, would be allowed to host its infrastructure in any European data centre, as long as a replication database is hosted in Malta.

With that being said, the company must take into consideration the optimal location to host its primary infrastructure, in line with compliance. In this scenario, a location like Amsterdam would be ideal for utilising high-speed internet at a low cost, as well as benefiting from the Netherlands’ prevalence within the igaming industry.

High latency can be detrimental for any online business, but for an online gambling business the ‘stakes’ are even higher. By implementing these key resources, strategic decision-making and the right technology partners, the ultra-low latency required to surpass customer expectations will not only be achievable, but also highly profitable.

Factors to consider when choosing a Cyprus VPS Hosting Provider in 2022

In this article we’ll make it easier for you by breaking down how to choose the best VPS hosting plan in Cyprus and why Cyprus is an ideal hosting location too.

Whether you’re just launching a new website or are looking to switch up your hosting services, finding the right hosting company is an important, yet time-consuming task. In this article we’ll make it easier for you by breaking down how to choose the best provider for VPS hosting in Cyprus and why Cyprus is an ideal hosting location too.

What is VPS Hosting

A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a type of hosting that splits one physical server into multiple Virtual Servers with the use of virtualization technology. Each VPS is allocated its own resources and runs independently from others on the same server.

VPS hosting has climbed in popularity due to the increased performance and security it offers in comparison to shared hosting, whilst still being a much cheaper option than a dedicated server.

VPS hosting in Cyprus

Many businesses and individuals are looking to Cyprus for their hosting needs, and for good reason too. Cyprus has become perhaps one of the most popular hosting locations due to its prime location, ever-improving infrastructure and endless business opportunities. Here are our top 3 reasons to choose Cyprus VPS hosting.

Prime location

Cyprus is unique in that it is the only European country to technically be located in the Middle East. Cyprus’ presence in the EMEA region has made the country a truly dynamic and strategic location for establishing business operations.

Business benefits

Location aside, Cyprus also proves advantageous for businesses due to the country’s attractive taxation system which sees corporate tax be as low as just 12.5%. Along with its hospitable environment for offshore company formation opportunities and access to the various European Union trade treaties.

Safe destination

Business continuity is essential under any circumstance, so the safety of your servers and data is essential. VPS hosting in Cyprus also provides you with the extra peace of mind of knowing that your servers are safe due to the country being at low risk of natural disasters.

How To Choose the Best VPS Hosting company in Cyprus

Performance

The first thing you need to assess when choosing a VPS hosting provider is the level of performance and availability you can expect. A good hosting provider will guarantee a stable environment and high server uptime, so be sure to ask about SLAs before committing.

At NetShop we’re proud to offer our clients 99.9% network uptime guarantee for their websites and hosted applications.

Support

Equally as important as performance is the level of support you will receive from your provider, and how quickly you can expect it. A hosting provider that offers 24/7 technical support will prove extremely valuable to the smooth running of your website.

We provide second-to-none support to our clients through multiple communication channels, any time of the day, for the utmost efficiency.

Price

Generally speaking, VPS hosting is a cost-effective solution but as it’s an ongoing cost you need to make sure that it’s budgeted for. Your choice of hosting provider should be able to offer great value for money that best reflects the quality of service you buy.

Our VPS plans start from less than €4 a month when you opt to pay annually, with a range of packages that suit all requirements.

Most Popular Offshore Web Hosting locations in 2022

Offshore hosting has become widely sought-after, so in this article we’ll explore the best offshore hosting locations and the advantages of each one.

Your choice of hosting location can potentially be a determining factor in the success and efficiency of your website and business. With many hosting solutions and locations available, it can be a daunting task deciding on the right option for you.

Offshore hosting has become widely sought-after, so in this article we’ll explore the best offshore hosting locations and the advantages of each one.

What is offshore hosting

In essence, offshore hosting is when website owners opt to host their website anywhere outside of their country of residence or business operations. This is usually done for a specific reason, for example to prevent issues concerning content, avoid censorship or to seek heightened anonymity.

Although technically speaking, hosting your website in any other country is considered offshore, a few locations have become especially renowned for web hosting. Each of these countries have specific factors that can prove extremely beneficial for website and business owners.

Best offshore hosting locations

Cyprus

Amongst the most popular offshore hosting locations, Cyprus offers a multitude of benefits in terms of offshore web hosting, as well as for those seeking to establish an offshore business. Geographically speaking, Cyprus is ideally located in the EMEA region, making it a prime business spot for international investment opportunities.

The country’s corporate tax rates also happen to be amongst the lowest in the EU at just 12.5%, with non-resident companies being excluded from all local taxes too – making the island especially popular for industries like Forex and iGaming.

The Netherlands

Best known for their stringent privacy laws, the Netherlands is most definitely one of the best hosting locations for those seeking to host content that may be deemed controversial. Choosing offshore hosting in the Netherlands provides reassurance that your data is kept safe and confidential, with little risk of your website being forcibly taken down.

Privacy isn’t the only benefit of offshore hosting in the Netherlands – the country’s capital, Amsterdam is also home to one of the largest internet exchanges in the world. That means hosting your website there guarantees low latency worldwide connectivity, at a highly affordable price too!

Singapore

Singapore is a prominent hosting location in its own right, being home to more than half of all data centers in south-east Asia. By leading the way with innovative technology and advancement, Singapore is far ahead of its neighbouring countries – making it a renowned hosting location for the Asia-Pacific.

Modern technology aside, Singapore is also a low risk country in terms of natural disasters, with earthquakes and other incidents being an extremely rare occurrence. And with security being a huge priority in Singapore, your servers are guaranteed to be highly-protected in any instance.

Malta

Last but not least on our list is Malta. The small country has led the way with its progressive regulations surrounding iGaming, and has not only become a prime location for hosting online betting websites, but also a hub for the financial industry.

Not only is Malta a popular business destination due to its intricate tax system, which can see corporate tax be as little as just 5%, it’s also ranked amongst the safest countries in the world in regards to natural disasters.

MetaQuotes announces AVX CPU requirement for MT5 Servers

In a recent announcement sent by MetaQuotes to all Forex brokers with an MT5 license, as of 1st of September 2022 all servers hosting the MT5 Main Trade Server, MT5 Trade Server, and MT5 History Server must have a CPU supporting the AVX instruction set.

In a recent announcement sent by MetaQuotes to all Forex brokers with an MT5 license, as of September 1st 2022 all servers hosting the MT5 Main Trade Server, MT5 Trade Server, and MT5 History Server must have a CPU supporting the AVX instruction set.

The AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions, also known as Sandy Bridge New Extensions) are extensions to the x86 set architecture for Intel and AMD microprocessors, which provide new instructions and a new coding scheme to allow for better performance.

As per MetaQuotes’ announcement, the AVX CPU requirement is mandatory for the MetaTrader 5 Main Trade Server, Trade Server and History Server. The MT5 Access Server and Backup Server components are not yet affected by this requirement, but it is due to come into effect for the entire MT5 suite of products in 2023.

Developers using the MT5 platform for testing and development should also ensure their servers are using CPU with AVX support, otherwise the installation and running of the MetaTrader 5 software will not be optimal.

Finally, an important note that has been highlighted by the MT5 software development company is that switching from live trading or history servers (with AVX support) to a MetaTrader 5 Backup Server (without AVX) is not possible.

How To Check If Your Server’s CPU Supports AVX

1. Check Instruction Set Extensions from CPU Official Manufacturer’s website

The easiest way is to login to your Windows Server, go to the Task Manager and make a note of the CPU Model your server is using.

For Intel Processors, go to ark.intel.com and search the CPU model as noted in the previous step. If your CPU supports AVX it will be included in the “Instruction Set Extensions” row. Below we include a screenshot of how AVX supported CPU shows up in Intel’s official website.

AVX Support for Intel Gold 6144 CPU

2. Install CPU-Z Freeware Tool

A second way to check whether your Forex server’s CPU supports the AVX instruction set is by installing and running a freeware tool called CPU-Z.

Login to your windows server and navigate to CPU-Z application’s official website (https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html). Scroll down and click the “Setup – English (32 and 64-bit versions) to download it on your server. Here’s a direct download link: https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/cpu-z_2.02-en.exe.

Upon installation, open the CPU section and check for the “AVX” next to the Instructions row – see below screenshot for reference.
